MAC Archies girls haul, swatches, photos and FOTD

Hello all, I could not resist this collection because I was pretty well obsessed with Archie comics when I was a kid. Part of me thought maybe I should pass since I'm a grown up now but then I saw the color story and everything that is in Betty's collection just called my name.

So here we go, $240 CAD later...

I got flatter me pearl matte, veronica's blush pearlmatte, cream soda blush, lord it up pearlglide eyeliner, summer sweetheart lipglass, betty bright lipstick and caramel sundae eyeshadow quad.

This is mainly just a photo swatch post, but I am going to be doing a comparison post soon.
I know there are many swatches floating around out there already, but in case you want to see how they look on super pale skin NC10/NC15 then this is for you. My camera likes to pick up odd cool/warm tones so they are not the most accurate of swatches but I tried to capture how the products look on me.

My summer beauty favorites!

I thought I'd do a little post on all my favorite makeup I've been using this summer. All products in this post I use daily or at least once per week. I'll list everything and why I'm loving it :

 Left to right:
  • NARS larger than life lipgloss in Tiber ~ perfect nude color, awesome formula not too sticky and actually moisturizing!
  • MAC prep + prime BB beauty balm spf 35PA+++ ~ Amazing product! I am using the Asian version currently, it's almost the same as the U.S. just has different sunscreen actives. I was using products with SPF 15 but realized I need more SPF than that (my skin was getting irritated by the sun). So this beauty balm (not to be confused with BB cream!) is sheer and non greasy, providing a perfect base for makeup with SPF 35. On good skin days I use it by itself, just evens everything out and gives a slight glow.
  • Biotherm multi-proctection SPF 30 eye contour cream ~ Awesome eye cream with SPF. It's fast absorbing and moisturizing, perfect under makeup.
  • Burberry Brit EDP ~ I got this by accident, and I'm glad I did because I love it! I picked this up in a sleep deprived haze - thought it was Burberry the Beat (which I also adore!) and once I tried it I thought I may as well keep it. It's grown on me.. it smells warm, clean, sweet and summery.
  • Cover Girl lash blast mascara waterproof ~ I only use this when I need to since it's hard to remove, but it stays all day and is truly water resistant!
  • Cover Girl liquiline blast brown blaze ~ The most perfect brown liner I've ever used! I'm not exaggerating. The color is gorgeous and doesn't have shimmer so it's great for the waterline. I like this for the summer because it isn't harsh like black can be.
  • MAC penultimate eyeliner rapid black ~ I've been searching for a liner like this forever. I can actually make a tiny, small line with this! I love using it on the top lash line to add just a little bit of fullness to my lashes without having to make a thick line.
  • Wet n Wild vanity palette  ~ Love this! I like to use the matte colors for a subtle look somedays, and for a more smoky eye I put the shimmery brown over MAC constructivist paint pot and it looks amazing... try it!
  • MAC MSF semi precious crystal pink ~ I'm really sad this is limited edition because it's the perfect summer blush and highlighter in one. I use this a lot, the middle gives a light bronze/pink blush and the outside gives a shimmery beige highlight. It's perfect.
  • MAC constructivist paint pot ~ Gorgeous deep brown with reddish undertones. I use this one a lot too. I like to layer shimmery taupes and browns over it for a smoky eye.
  • Maybelline 24 hr eye tattoo in bad to the bronze ~ Another amazing color. It's the one thing I must say you need for summer. Some days when I want a minimal look thats fast and easy I just use this all over the lid with some mascara and I'm good to go. It's the perfect champagne taupe color, not too dark or too light. The best thing is that it stays all day and doesn't crease or travel.
  • MAC lipstick blankety ~ This has become my favorite lipstick ever. It goes with everything, It also makes lips look plump.
  • Urban Decay naked palette ~ (Forgot to take a pic!) This is my go-to palette most days. I love it.

One of my favorite summer polishes is Illamasqua Milf. I love it! Sorry for the blurry pic, was holding my baby and trying to aim the camera with the same arm.

Here is my summer FOTD, very basic and neutral. I'm spending a lot of time outside so I look really tan..wow.
My FOTD:
face:
- MAC prep + prime beauty balm
- Revlon Colorstay in buff (a whole shade darker than the usual ivory! )
- MAC MSF crystal pink
eyes:
- Urban Decay naked palette: naked (lid), buck (crease & lower lash line), sin (blended above crease), virgin (to highlight).
- Armani eyes to kill mascara (review coming soon!)
- Annabelle brow pencil taupe
lips:
NARS larger than life l/g Tiber

Well I hope you are all having a great summer. My family and I are enjoying it, looking forward to holidays in a few weeks as well.
Let me know what your favorite summer beauty products are! Especailly any skin care and foundations, always up for trying new things :)

Revlon colorburst lip butter in Gumdrop photos & swatches

Ok I lied, this new Revlon lip butter is my latest drugstore purchase.
The cute colors and packaging had me in one glance. I could not resist.

Gumdrop is a light lilac color, there are many different color choices in these - nudes, browns pinks and reds.
Gumdrop looks almost identical to Revlon super lustrous lipgloss in lilac pastelle which was limited edition.
The color is so pretty, I love it. It goes on sheer but you can layer it on for more color saturation. There aren't any large shimmer particles in it, but after it's worn off there are tiny sparkles left on my lips. So, it does have very subtle shimmer.

swatch of gumdrop:

wearing gumdrop:

What I like about it:

- The cute color (obviously!)
- Affordable ($8 CAD)
- Packaging is nice
- Somewhat moisturizing

What I don't like about it:

- No detectable fragrance or flavor. with names like 'creme brulee' and 'strawberry shortcake' I was hoping for yummy scents. Disappointment there :/
Fragrance is listed in the ingredients, but near the end so there is only a tiny bit. I do get a faint whiff of vanilla when I first apply.
- Not long lasting at all (1 hour max)
- After it wears off my lips start to feel dryer than they were before

Overall these are cute and cheap lip glosses. If you have ever used L'oreal color juice sticks, these lip butters have an identical texture. Like a tinted gloss and balm in one.
I don't think I'll buy any more but I really love the color of gumdrop so I'll keep using it :)

Bourjois Effet 3-D lipgloss 85 Lilas Romantique photos and swatches

Bourjois 3-D lipglosses are quickly becoming my favorite lip products. It's a shame they are so pricey here in Canada ($20) if they were a little bit cheaper I'd probably have all of them. I think Lilas romantique is a limited edition color because I haven't seen it in any stores recently.

The color is absolutely amazing, a lavender with a golden duo chrome sheen. It looks great layered over nude lipstick, but I usually wear it by itself.

Wearing lilas romantique:

I can't say I've ever seen a lipstick or a gloss this color before, it's truly unique!
The trend of lavender and lilac lip colors seems to be all over the place lately, have you tried these colors?

MAC frankly fresh lipglass photos and swatches

I've been wearing a lot of peach colors lately, subconsciously thinking warmer toned colors will warm me up in this freezing cold weather!
Frankly fresh was released with MAC's liberty of London collection spring 2010, and was meant to compliment peachstock lipstick.
I found peachstock too orange on me, but frankly fresh is the perfect peach color - ever.

It's a shame this is limited edition, I must hunt down something similar in MAC's permanent line.

This color goes with everything. It's just great to have when I can't decide what color to put on my lips.

What's your favorite peach colored lipgloss?

MAC Dazzle the Lads Lip set Photos and Swatches

MAC put together a gorgeous holiday lip set this year for the tartan tale collection. The colors are on the warm side, but still very wearable for most skin tones. The colors are very nicely coordinated and now I am wishing I had the other set as well!
Dazzle the lads kit includes: draw me close lip pencil, barons rose lipstick and a dazzleglass in moth to flame.

Draw me close lip liner pencil, dusty rose

Extremely nice and creamy lip pencil! However, the color is more of a deep peach than rose.

Wearing draw me close:

Barons rose lipstick, cremesheen

A gorgeous color that I can't get over. It's a medium berry rose color, with a lovely golden sheen to it. It's not as deep or frosty as O lipstick. It resembles Thrills lipstick from to the beach collection, but thrills is lighter and warmer toned. Both O and thrills lipsticks are frost finishes which I find to be drying, but I am happy to report that Barons rose has a lovely creamy texture that doesn't dry my lips at all.

Wearing barons rose by itself:
After blotting, the color is perfect and I am loving the gold shimmer

Wearing barons rose over draw me close liner:

Moth to flame dazzleglass:

I really like moth to flame. It doesn't add much color to your lips, but it sure makes them sparkle! It's got gorgeous gold and violet dense microshimmer that really catches the eye.
I love to use this over peach lipsticks.

Wearing moth to flame by itself:

Wearing draw me close, barons rose and moth to flame:

The three products look really nice together!

I really like MAC's holiday sets. It's a great way to try out new products without buying them all separately.
Did you like any of the tartan tale holiday sets?

Estee Lauder pure color gloss peach sizzle photos and swatches

Estee Lauder came out with a new selection of pure color glosses a few months ago. I checked them out and some of the colors are really nice. Out of all the 20 colors available, I picked out peach sizzle. It's just so gorgeous.

The new glosses are packaged in a longer thinner tube, but they include the same amount of gloss as the older 6ml pure color glosses. They still have the nice berry candy scent as the older style glosses too.

Peach sizzle is a sheer warm peach with a slight golden iridescence, and pink/violet micro shimmer. It's truly unique.

It goes on quite sheer, but adds a little bit of peach and dimensional shimmer to my lips.

It looks spectacular over a peach lipstick. Here I am wearing it over Wet n
Wild matte lipstick bare it all 902C:

Lasting power of this gloss isn't bad, the shimmer particles stick to my lips for quite a while after the gloss wears off. Pure color glosses in general are smooth and not sticky, they feel very comfortable on.
Overall, I really like this color and I think that it's worth checking out!
