Diorshow New Look mascara review

This is Diors newest mascara release, as always I have to try new things so I picked it up when I saw it.
I've tried lots of Dior mascaras including Diorshow, Diorshow iconic, Diorshow blackout and Diorshow Blackout waterproof.
I'm not a fan of most, but Diorshow blackout is pretty much the love of my life. I will post my review of that one soon!

New look has a special 'nano' brush to grab all lashes even tiny ones to get a full voluminous effect.
It's a pretty small brush, with little plastic bristles that range in size. The bottom part has longer bristles, and the top tapers off with very small ones.
It does an ok job of depositing mascara to each lash.

New look is described by Dior as having a 'lash multipying effect, volume and care'. I'm not really sure what the 'care' part involves, it is apparently supposed to 'densify lashes'. I highly doubt it. I haven't seen any changes in my lashes since using it, and there are no special ingredients in this to really care for lashes.

Wearing 3 coats of new look:

This mascara gave me basic volume. That was just about it. I didn't get much length, and even after layering a few times it just kept making my lashes look fatter and shorter.
It didn't hold curl too well. I wasn't impressed, I felt like it made my eyelashes look short and stubby.
The formula is ok, doesn't smudge, clump or flake.

I really liked the packaging of this mascara. The tube is decorated with silver Dior designs. It feels nice and expensive.

If all you want in a mascara is volume, this is for you. It provides lots of volume and that's just about it. To me, it's a waste of money because I want curl and length!
There are much cheaper options out there that deliver volume. Off the top of my head I'd reccomend L'oreal voluminous carbon black which performs the same, if not better than this!

Dior Diorshow iconic mascara review

Diorshow iconic is another in the lineup of Dior's mascara's designed to give extraordinary results.
The claim: 'The extra-hold formula provides a 24-hour-curl with 100% smudge-proof results.'

The wand is completely different from Diorshow, as is the formula.
The brush is loaded with tiny teeth that are meant to separate your lashes one by one.

I have to say that the formula is rather odd. It doesn't really dry. It seems to hold onto moisture and stay flexible.
I know this because I had an interesting experience after using this the first time.
A few hours after I had applied it I felt sick and took a nap. I got up and started to fix my makeup, I looked at my lashes and was horrified! They were completely bent out of shape and sticking up in different directions. None of the mascara had smudged or flaked at all. Instead it completely stuck to my lashes and acted like a gel to hold them up any way they moved. It was weird.

The brush really curls your lashes upwards, as you can see my lashes look quite lifted here:

2 coats:

Two coats and my lashes look defined, a little longer and thicker. Nothing spectacular. I'm not overly impressed.
With the so-so results of two coats I try layering more, and this is what happens:

4 coats:

I get the length and volume I want but my lashes start to go a little wonky! Not to mention it starts to clump. Iconic does not do well with more than 2 coats.
So here is what Iconic is good for, curling up your lashes. It didn't smudge smear or flake, but it was also very hard to remove. I ended up losing a few lashes just trying to get it all off! It really sticks.

Overall, I am unimpressed with the results of Iconic. If I want length and separation I will buy a drugstore mascara. If I want my lashes to look curled I will use an eyelash curler. I was expecting more for $30 dollars. I would not reccomend this to anyone.
A great mascara to lift and lengthen lashes is Rimmel eye magnifier, you can see my review here. It does just as well a job as Iconic.

Dior DiorShow Black Out Mascara review

My favorite mascara of all I've tried, and I haven't given it a review yet? oh wow. It's about time!


This mascara is the most essential beauty tool for smokin' eyes. It's the answer to your false lash phobias, and lash extension dreams.
I personally have horrible luck trying to use false eyelashes. I love the effect, but I just can't get it right, especially when I'm in a rush! This is why I continue to purchase diorshow black out.

Essentially, it's the same large brush as the regular diorshow. The formula, is different. Black out has the blackest black pigment you'll ever find in a mascara, and it doesn't have the cloying rose scent of the regular version.

The formula is 'wet', meaning it doesn't dry very fast. This is excellent for building up layers to achieve long, fake looking lashes. It also means the formula will remain stable for longer than the majority, because the tube won't dry out for a long time.
I like to use about 4 coats to get a really intense effect, and I promise it won't clump at all if you work quickly - while it remains wet.
The large brush reaches every lash, even ones you didn't know you had, adding perfectly distributed length and volume.
Even with thick layers of black out on, I have never had any flaking, smudging or smearing!

I really have nothing bad to say about black out, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes dramatic mascara.
The price point is quite high, but it is well worth it. If you don't want to spend big money on mascara check out Prestige my biggest lashes, which I mention in this post. It gives similar results for 1/4 of the price.

Repurchase? I have repurchased 2 times and I will absolutely continue to!

This is the closest mascara to HG status I have found. Have you found an HG mascara? I'd love to know!

Dior addict lipstick 297 imaginary mauve swatches

This is a discontinued color, and it's hard to find a dupe. Imaginary mauve - or 'mauve fictif' is a sheer iridescent pink that can look lilac or whitish in different light. It's so very pretty.





It's pretty sheer, and almost has a gloss-like texture. It's a nice change from a regular nude color.

I don't like Dior addict lipsticks much because I find them to be drying. And they also wear off really quick. Not really worth the money.

Hey, I'm Lexa. I am an obsessive compulsive make up addict.
Of all the things I have hoarded, loved, cherished and cared for in my life; make up has always been (and likely always will be) my absolute favorite thing to spend my hard-earned cash on.
I have over 100 lip balms. I have at least 50 eyeshadows. At any given time I will have between 3 and 6 different mascaras in rotation for fear one might dry out.

"Why so much make up?" you might be thinking. Well, some women have 200 pairs of shoes, or a closet full of designer jeans. Or most likely, a lot of pretty little gemstone bracelets and diamond rings. I like my makeup. More than my shoes, clothes, jewelery, hair, whatever have you.

I like to wear a lot of it. No, it's not because I am trying to hide behind it. I like my face, but I love the enhanced, airbrushed, defined look that my cosmetics and artistic skill can create.
I look at my face as a canvas, and use my makeup as a form of artistic expression. Every day.
And, I'll add it feels good to look good :)

I decided to make this blog because :

1. I buy a lot of different products and I'd like to review them in detail with pics (focusing on mascara)
   
2. I want to share my makeup addiction with those that understand and appreciate it as much as I do!

I hope that I can help somebody find something "holy grail" status. I have found a few through the years but I continue on the search for an HG mascara. I just can't settle for one. I want the best of the best. One that will just blow all of the others I've tried out of the water.
