L'oreal telescopic explosion mascara review

The brush is made of plastic- flexible, but sharp!

Here is a review for L'oreal Telescopic explosion mascara. Basically, it is a total rip off of Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Mascara which retails for $29 USD and is only available at Sephora.
The unique brush is what really got me. It looks so cool! All spiky and evil.
I've always wanted phenomen'eyes so of course when this came out I snapped it up right away.
Well, it really sucks. When you take the wand out, the whole thing is totally covered in globs of the wet formula. You absolutely must remove some of the excess before applying, unless you like huge thick spider lashes *shudders*.
After carefully applying vertically to lift the lashes, then horizontally to grab every lash, I am not impressed. My lashes are weighed down by the thick formula, and the mascara does not distribute evenly using this medieval torturing device of a brush. I am left with clumping no matter what.
The extra time (and precision) it takes to apply this is not worth the mediocre results.
L'oreal's regular telescopic mascara is much better than this.
Into the trash she goes!

Essie playa del platinum NOTD

Ok so I admit I am slightly obsessed with grey nail polish... I am always on the hunt for a good one that doesn't look purple or blue tinted on me, but really corpsey grey. well this is it!
Only 2 coats and it's nice and opaque. This is my first Essie polish believe it or not, I just find most of their colors boring.
It's from 'the resort' LE collection spring 2010

Update: this looked so horrible on me I had to take it off. My hands looked dead. I need to find a nice grey that won't look so off with my pale skin.

Urban Decay 24/7 glide on pencil liner swatches

Left to Right:
row 1 - Zero, Gunmetal, 1999
row 2- Oil Slick, Bourbon, Crash
row 3- baked, Lucky
row4 - Eldorado, Stash

*Swatches are in artificial light, really deceptive since oil slick, stash, lucky, bourbon and 1999 have glitter in them IRL, it doesn't show up much here *

I decided to post swatches of my favorite colors of Urban Decay 24/7 glide on pencils. I use them everyday. They will likely be in all of my EOTD's. If you haven't tried them, you should check them out. Best liners out there, IMO.
A dupe for Urban Decay liners is Annabelle smoothliners. Annabelle is much more affordable, and extremely similar to UD 24/7 so check those out if you don't want to spend a lot of money. (For ref Annabelle smoothliner is $9.99, UD liner is $17.00)

Avon Super curlacious mascara review

Avon mascaras generally aren't too bad, actually pretty good, but not amazing.
Super curlacious is fairly decent.
I like the brush, it's kinda big, like a caterpillar, in a curved shape to lift your lashes.
I didn't find it to curl my lashes much, maybe a little, but it did add volume and length in one swipe. I used two coats with minimal clumping.
It tends to flake a bit when you pile it on, so it's best to build it up while your lashes are still wet.
Price: $9.99 CAD

Introductions

Hey, I'm Lexa. I am an obsessive compulsive make up addict.
Of all the things I have hoarded, loved, cherished and cared for in my life; make up has always been (and likely always will be) my absolute favorite thing to spend my hard-earned cash on.
I have over 100 lip balms. I have at least 50 eyeshadows. At any given time I will have between 3 and 6 different mascaras in rotation for fear one might dry out.

"Why so much make up?" you might be thinking. Well, some women have 200 pairs of shoes, or a closet full of designer jeans. Or most likely, a lot of pretty little gemstone bracelets and diamond rings. I like my makeup. More than my shoes, clothes, jewelery, hair, whatever have you.

I like to wear a lot of it. No, it's not because I am trying to hide behind it. I like my face, but I love the enhanced, airbrushed, defined look that my cosmetics and artistic skill can create.
I look at my face as a canvas, and use my makeup as a form of artistic expression. Every day.
And, I'll add it feels good to look good :)

I decided to make this blog because :
  1. I buy a lot of different products and I'd like to review them in detail with pics (focusing on mascara)
  2. I want to share my makeup addiction with those that understand and appreciate it as much as I do!
I hope that I can help somebody find something "holy grail" status. I have found a few through the years but I continue on the search for an HG mascara. I just can't settle for one. I want the best of the best. One that will just blow all of the others I've tried out of the water.

If you have an HG mascara, or one you'd like to see reviewed, please send me a message.

I will leave you with a pic of me wearing my almost HG mascara, Dior show black out :
