NOTD: Icing dark magic

You have no idea how long I searched far and wide for a black matte polish. I had just given up and bought a RBL matte top coat to put over Rimmel black satin, when I came across this baby at Icing!

ohhh how I love this. So dark and leathery looking. It wore surprisingly well, 3 days without any chips!

I have always liked black nail polish, since way before it was actually 'trendy'. It used to be almost impossible to find black polish except at Halloween. I used to buy them two at a time so I wouldn't run out.


I love this so much. I don't know why but it's one of my favorite mani's.

Luna Twilight Lullaby just bitten lip staining balm photos and swatches

I'm not the biggest fan of Twilight, and this line of Luna Twilight makeup by Duwop never really appealed to me. I found this lip staining balm on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart, and when I saw it was a cute peachy pink color I just couldn't resist it.

To be honest I love the packaging! It's sleek and chic with the blackened transparent case, and the tree design on it just looks gorgeous.

Lullaby is very sheer, but can be layered for a more intense color. It's a great mix of peach coral and pink that really brightens up my face.

I don't find that this stays on very long, although it is marketed as 'lip staining'. To me it seems more like a tinted lip balm more than anything else.
There is no way I'd pay $20 CAD for this but I would by another one if it were on sale.

Have you tried any Luna Twilight products? Did you like them?

Stila Kajal eyeliner in onyx review

I thought I'd do a little review on Stila kajal, after trying it I was a bit stumped. I loved it and I hated it!

Why I loved it: This eyeliner is one of the blackest tarriest onyx pitch-blacks I've ever come across. The other being Hashmi kajal. It's extremely deep and rich in pigment.

It's so rich and densely black!

Here is a comparison of Stila onyx kajal and Urban Decay zero 24/7 liner, which I usually wear:

Sorry the photo is somewhat blurry, but you can really see a difference IRL. It makes zero look so dull and grey!

Why I hate it: The texture of the kajal is so soft, it literally melts when I try to use it. I don't keep it near heat or anything, it's just soft as clay and it melts when it comes into contact with my body heat.
This is usually a good thing for lining the waterline, but this is just too soft.
It smears and smudges and gets all over the place. It ends up on my fingers, clothes and random other places after I use it.
It melts from my waterline down under my eyes within a few hours.
It is a total and utter MESS to clean up, and try to remove. It's so 'smeary' that it sticks to everything. Even after doing my usual makeup remover techniques and then further - using a q-tip to completely remove it from my waterline - it manages to stick to my upper and lower eyelids until I wipe it off with baby oil. It's just a pain!

I found it a bit wasteful because every single time I use it I have to sharpen it because it melts so much.

I don't know if all Stila Kajals are like this, or if I'm just warm so I melt it a lot - but this is just a waste of money to me. I love the rich pigment but it's not worth the fuss, and I just hate when my eyeliner smears on me, especially at work.
I'd rather have something that stays put and has rich pigment. This eyeliner is just not worth the price.

Repurchase? No, I'm going to stick with Urban Decay 24/7 liners!

Wet n Wild Greed ColorIcon Palette photos, swatches and EOTD

Please excuse the lack of posts lately, life is just crazy right now! It's great though because I've recently been able to grab a few new things to review in the future. I can't say what, it's a secret!

I am not really a big fan of Wet n wild palettes myself, but I couldn't resist the colors in this one. Especially the shimmery golden peach/pink color, it's really beautiful!


I found the pigmentation of these shadows pretty good. Compared to the silent treatment trio I had tried before I liked this way better!

The matte colors are really nice and creamy, very blendable and dense pigment. The shimmery ones are ok, not as pigmented as I had hoped. I found them to be a little chalky, but they did blend well.

I used my favorite color (the pink gold) all over the lid. I should add that to really make them pop I applied the matte flesh toned color all over my eyes before applying the shimmery colors.

I don't reach for this palette very much because I am mostly wearing neutrals and bronzey colors these days, but I think I will play around with it some more and see what I come up with.

I really don't think you can go wrong with this for $6... even if it is just for one of the colors!

I should also mention that the purple color with gold sparkle is a dead on dupe for NARS stada! I hated strada because it didn't show up on me nearly as nicely as it looked in the pan. This wet n wild color however, (I think the single color is called 'kitten') is far more smooth than NARS and actually looks great over a primer.

I love finding cheap dupes that are even better than the more expensive brand ;) have you found any great dupes lately?

MAC zoom lash mascara review

I think Zoom lash is probably the most popular mascara from MAC. It always seems to pop up in the face kits and what not, so more people try it before they buy it.
This is my second zoom lash, I used up a full sized one a couple years back and more recently got the mini one when I bought a set from the tartan tale collection.

The brush is nothing to fuss over, it's pretty basic although it is a little different from the norm. The bristles are hard and consist of rows of different sized 'teeth' which helps to grab every lash and coat it.

MAC says:
'This instant volume mascara power-lifts the lashes into length, curls them up...builds them faster than you can wink!' ..do I agree? hell ya! Well maybe not the curling part.

The thing I love about this mascara is that is builds volume and length so quickly!
In a rush? No problem, because one coat is good enough.
If you try and build up a few layers you might encounter some clumping.
I had zero smudging or flaking with this, which is awesome!
The only negative thing I found about this mascara is that it irritated my eyes when I used it consistently. A lot of MAC mascaras and eyeliners do that to me for some reason.
Otherwise I really like zoom lash.

Overall, I'd recommend this mascara if you like volume and length and you don't have much time to apply your eye makeup. It really is time saving using a mascara like this. I guess that is why it's called 'zoom' lash.

Repurchase? I don't think so because it is irritating to my eyes, otherwise I would!
